Key Information
Not only is The Mayhew Animal Home a rescue facility for abandoned and abused animals, we also function as a Community Veterinary Clinic and Humane Education Centre. Here is some key information about the Home to give an overview of just how much we do and who we are involved with:
- It costs over £3,400 a day to run The Mayhew Animal Home;
- We are completely funded by donations;
- The Mayhew can take in 40 dogs in to the kennels, 150 cats and kittens and up to 10 rabbits and guinea pigs;
- The Mayhew has four Animal Welfare Officers that work within the community to provide animal welfare education and advice;

- The Mayhew offers low cost neutering, microchipping & vaccinations to all dogs and cats, plus free neutering for all bull breeds at our on-site veterinary clinic. This is at a cost to The Mayhew, but is an important part of our creed to deal with the issues of over-population in the UK;
- Our celebrity supporters include Andrew Sachs, Ricky Gervais, Liz Smith, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Anthony Head;
- Our Animal Welfare Officers take part in a feral cat-trapping programme called Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) to prevent further over-population of stray cats;
