The Mayhew Animal Home is very lucky to have the support of a growing number of celebrities who are Friends of the Home after becoming involved with us with the common desire to improve the lives of animals, either by adopting an animal or by joining to support our campaigns.
Actors Imelda Staunton, Jim Carter, Neil Morrissey, Jason Donovan and Joe McGann have all adopted Mayhew animals as have The Apprentice favourite, Margaret Mountford and renowned art critic Brian Sewell.
Other fantastic celebs such as Al Murray, Joanna Lumley, Andrew Sachs, Sue Jameson and Ricky Gervais have supported us by appearing at fundraising events such as our Mayhew Christmas Evening.
A Mayhew Christmas Evening
The Mayhew is extremely grateful to have the generous support of celebrities such as Liz Smith, Jim Carter, Imelda Staunton, Andrew Sachs and Sue Jameson, all of who gave up their time voluntarily last year to perform at our Mayhew Christmas Evening.

We are grateful to all of our Mayhew Celebrity friends as they kindly lend their public profile to highlighting some very fundamental animal welfare concerns and help us get the message of responsible pet ownership out to a wider audience.
Ricky Gervais: "I am joining The Mayhew Animal Home to urge people to think about what they can do to help during this current kitten crisis. Too many cats are having unwanted babies that are arriving on the doorsteps of rescue centres who only have very limited space. These tiny little things, like Bertie, have barely had a chance in life so if you can take in any of these orphan felines and care for them while The Mayhew finds them a home, please get in touch."
Sophie Ellis Bextor: "I'm extremely glad that rescue homes like The Mayhew exist to be able to rescue animals like these poor cats and dog, stuck in a 3rd Floor, one-bed flat, and then treat them and nurture them back to health. I hope this story will remind people just how important neutering your pets is, as this terrible situation spiralled into a case of animal hoarding which should never be allowed to occur. Please neuter all of your pets, there is no excuse not too when places like The Mayhew offer free and low-cost appointments."
