Fostering
The Mayhew Animal Home is always on the lookout for new Foster Carers to help us look after both Mayhew dogs seeking permanent homes, and also those on our Pet Refuge scheme. Although our animal housing is fabulously comfy and homely, some dogs simply don't do well in any environment that they are not familiar with and need a lot more time and attention on a one-to-one basis. Fostering also frees up space at The Mayhew for other dogs in need of our care. However good our accommodation is, it can never substitute a real home, so we aim to ensure that dogs don't have to stay with us any longer than necessary.
Fostering provides a dog in need with temporary care and accommodation. It's rewarding but requires a high level of time, emotional commitment and patience. All equipment costs (e.g. bedding, food, bowls) are covered with the exception of travel costs, although we do appreciate any offers of contributions towards these items, particularly food.
If you're interested in becoming a dog foster carer, please read our Dog Fostering Introduction. If after reading this you feel that you could be a dog foster carer, please print off a Dog Fostering Application and post it into our Dog Foster Co-ordinator. If you have any questions about dog fostering, please drop us an email or on 07951 652 822.
