Nicolas

Hello, my name is Nicolas

I am a 6 year old male, Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I arrived at The Mayhew after being found abandoned on the streets of London.

I am now in a foster home and my foster mum and dad say I am the sweetest boy without a mean bone in my body. I do enjoy going out and am very good on lead, no pulling! I am very polite with other dogs I meet and if any of them come on too strong, I just take it in my stride. I enjoy travelling in the car and I’m well behaved on journeys, especially if I can look out of the window and watch everything that is going on. I also enjoy pottering about in the garden and playing ball with my foster mum and dad.

I am a bit wobbly on my back legs because I have a condition called hip dysplasia, although I still enjoy going for my two thirty minute walks in the park everyday, where I enjoy running around. I have really benefited from taking supplements and pain killers, though I never complain. I have a very sweet nature and love the company of people and children of all ages. I am completely clean in the house and love to put my paws up and relax in my special chair. I used to be a vocal boy, liking the sound of my own voice barking to get attention, although I’ve now learnt in my foster home that the way to earn a nice long cuddle or a game of fetch is to be a quiet calm boy. Although I don’t like being left alone I am never destructive and I don’t mess but I do whimper as I can get quite anxious on my own. Happily my foster parents are very patient and are teaching me to spend time alone gradually. At night time I’m as good as gold and after my night-time walk I go to sleep on the sofa and don’t make a sound until it is time to get up in the morning.

I am now looking for a forever home with some special people who are at home for most of the day and have the patience to show me that I am safe and loved and continue to work on my separation anxiety. I would fit perfectly into a family or make an ideal companion for a retired couple or someone who works from home and is around most of the time. I would be happy to live with another mature and secure dog providing we were a good match. My new guardians will be taking on a ten year commitment which must not be taken lightly but if you want a boy who loves to snuggle up with you, is easy to walk and adores people of all ages, I’m the boy for you.

I hope to see you soon

Nicolas is currently living in foster care until his new forever home is found. If you are interested in adopting him you will need to visit The Mayhew first before going to see him in his foster home.

If you are interested in offering Nicolas a home please email lisa@mayhewanimalhome.org for information on our adoption procedure.
