Kai
Hello, my name is Kai
I am a two year old male, Rhodesian Ridgeback. I arrived at The Mayhew because my previous owner felt she no longer had the time to care for me properly.
I am a very friendly boy who gets on well with everyone I meet. I’m extremely affection and I love my cuddles, in fact I would happily sit with you for hours on end while you stroke my tummy. I also love a good ear massage. I am a firm favourite at The Mayhew, they say I have settled in beautifully and I am the most lovely, cuddly dog I and a real joy to have around. I love going for walks, I am absolutely fine off the lead and although I race around, I come back when called. Once I’ve had a good run I then like to stay close by. I am quite a strong boy on lead when I first get out but I soon calm down, to help with my lead training I currently wear a head halti which I have gotten used to. I am very good with other dogs although if another dog has a go at me I will retaliate. I would be happy to live with another well behaved dog and I could live with cats too providing they are confident around dogs and didn’t run away from me, otherwise I can’t resist the urge to chase them. I am good with children of all ages. Due to my size and the probability of me knocking over little ones any young children in my new home will need to be used to large dogs.
I am now looking for a forever home with someone who has owned dogs before and will provide me with a minimum of one hour of off-lead exercise daily in a park or open space. I have learnt the basic commands and manners but as I’m still young I would like to find someone who will continue my training and take me to training classes. Because it’s not known how long I can be left on my own for I ideally need to find someone who is around for most of the day or someone who can take me to work with them. My new guardians will be taking on a ten-year commitment, which must not be taken lightly.
I hope to see you soon
Kai x
